There are many pieces of evidence of the brutal traditions of cannibalism among some tribes. However, they cannot be
considered as being different from our tradition of justifying dog-meat eating. The tendency to consider the people, who protest dog-meat eating, as narrow-minded is the instinctive attempt
to reduce the guilt coming from the brutal tradition of dog-meat eating.
In the past, our ancestors used the superficially and exaggeratively brutal methods to cut the sympathy for the
lives that they loved and cared when they killed their own dogs for eating. However, we should not keep the tradition without the universal view of life or symbiotic view on nature that our
ancestors had. |

We need to find out when and how we started to perceive dog-meat eating as our national culture and the root of this
perception without prejudice. Then our choice will be obvious.
The majority of supporting the legalization of dog-meat eating might believe that legalizing the issue will minimize
the suffering that dogs go though. However, it will result in holding or magnifying the suffering and conflict and passing on the problems of dog-meat eating to the next generations.
In some countries, people eat dog-meat. And, in other countries, so many private shelters for abandoned dogs are available without parallel in history. If the essential problems of
dog-meat eating continue to be covered up, the burden and agony that small number of animal lovers have to take will be intensified. |
